Tokelau Akoga Kamata

Picture 1.png

We believe the Tokelau language is to be spoken, the culture to be encouraged, nurtured and also for our children to retain the value of Christian principles.  We acknowledge the Treaty of Waitangi as the foundational document of Aotearoa.  The individuality of all children is respected and recognised therefore we endeavour as educators to implement the curriculum of Te Whariki to plan our programme according to the child's needs.  We believe Mataliki Tokelau Akoga Kamata is the extension of the child's family, helping them to feel a sense of belonging and that their safety and wellbeing are well cared for and protected.

Mataliki was established over 30 years ago in family garages and in 2001, it was the first licensed Tokelau language ECE centre in New Zealand.  Mataliki currently has 29 staff, 24 of which are educators.
